Bewildered by the praise of this depressing sequel. Lupita Nyong'o, who is usually good to great in everything, frankly plays a jerk named Sam dying of cancer during "the invasion." She desires a slice of pizza from Patsy's on 117th Street. As the aliens paint the city blood red (tomato sauce) with the bodies of New Yorkers, Sam befriends an ex-Brit, law student Eric (Joseph Quinn), and they chase after her wandering cat while dodging enemy extraterrestrials. I am not kidding; this is the actual plot of the movie! Yes, there is a very thin (crust) reason why she wants Patsy's, but the reasoning is so cheesy (pizza), and there is so little character development that the story suffers. By the way, the real Patsy's is my favorite pizza in NYC, especially with onions, but come on, during the apocalypse, I doubt I'd be risking life and limb for a slice from freshly murdered dead people. The film adds nothing and could have been titled "Day 1,256," and it would have been the same. This "day" adds nothing and is a waste of time. Rewatch parts 1 and 2 again if you're into this series. And please visit Patsy's between 117th & 118th on 1st Ave in Manhattan, NYC. The rumor is "Day Four" will focus on a diabetic teacher with a serious hankering for Beef Gyro from the Halal Guys.
