Saltburn (2023)

Excellent, fun, scene-chewing acting all around but let’s be clear: this is not a thing. It’s hilarious watching Gen Z react to this like they’ve just discovered the concept of being grossed out. Have you seen ANY horror movies from the last 45-plus years period of time?! Putting the politics aside and ignoring for a moment the terrifying possibility that we’re doomed because this generation refuses to look backward, learn history, or recognize that, yes, we are absolutely doomed to repeat it- the movie itself is a little lacking. It wavers somewhere between fine and pretty good. Entertaining? Absolutely. Revolutionary? Calm down. And while we’re here, go watch Promising Young Woman. I actually think it’s the superior film. It was also directed by Emerald Fennell, who you may recognize as Pregnant Barbie from Barbie. Yes, that Pregnant Barbie. Also, PLEASE stop making those ridiculously exaggerated reaction posts just to farm views. We get it, you’re shocked! You’re disgusted! Your soul has left your body! Now go watch some horror movies made before TikTok existed. 😝
